The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) meeting Minutes Thursday, August 20, 2009, 7:15pm.

 

            The TIBF August monthly meeting was brought to order 7:15pm., Western Marine, Nampa, Idaho.  Those in attendance were:  Bruce, Flesher, President; John Lancaster, Vice-President-MVBM; Tammy Shuyler, Secretary-Treasurer;  Tony Shuyler, IBM; Dave Keever, MVBM, IBH, Mini-Cassia; Kurt Campbell, Walleye Unlimited; Dave Evans (via teleconference), Eagle Rock; Steve Day-Snake River Bassmasters

 

July 16, 2009, TIBF minutes approved.

 

Treasurer Report-Tammy Shuyler

  • Treasurer Report reviewed and approved.
  • General Checking Account has been moved to Key Bank.

Youth Report-John Lancaster-Absent.  Bruce reported.

  • Youth Championship results-Zach Messer, 15-18 yo. age group, won the National Guard Youth Championship in Pennsylvania.  He will be attending the Dry Creek Open in September.
  • REEL Kids may be in jeopardy and potentially gone in 2010 as a result of sponsor dissatisfaction.  It is imperative the sponsors see results from their contributions to REEL Kids and know that their money has been spent wisely.  The reporting requirements accompany the kits and due diligence and follow up will be required by member clubs following REEL Kid sessions.  Deadline to re-order kits is 9-15-09.  We ordered 14 last year and have used 11 kits this year.  Place orders with Bruce Flesher via email. 

Conservation Report-Steve Jones (Absent).  Bruce reported in his stead.

  • Bruce advises he was contacted by IBFN asking if TIBF would be interested in a cooperative structure plant effort at Black Canyon.  Bruce detailed costs provided to him by IBFN including poly pipe and peat pots totaling 500. BFN costs were very expensive and after discussion, it was determined TIBF would decline at this time.  It is believed that materials can be obtained through recycling and donation efforts.  Additionally, a structure plant at CJ Strike with the IDFG approval is preferred. 

Communication Report-Steve Day

  • Steve Day has renewed website domain.  A cost of $26.95 has been presented for which he was issued a reimbursement check at the meeting.

Tournament Report-Bruce Flesher

  • Qualifiers are ongoing.  Tentative numbers from each division for State Team:  East-1 boater, 2 non-boaters; North-2 boaters, 1 non-boater; South-3 boaters & 3 non-boaters.

Old Business

  • Scales of Justice-September 27.  So far, organizers report receiving 12 boater applications and 50 are needed.  The application can be downloaded from TIBF website.  Applications need to be received by the noted deadline to ensure all youth participants will have a boat assignment.
  • Dry Creek Open-Scheduled for September 12.  Entry forms can be obtained online at

  • Castrol award-this is made available by Castrol and is a $100 Walmart gift card.  Nominations are being requested from member clubs.  The nominee should be someone who exemplifies the TIBF member in fishing, volunteering, promoting and participation of TIBF activities.  A profile should accompany the nominee and submitted at upcoming August TIBF meeting.  Ron Helsley has been nominated by IBH. 

New Business

  • TIBF Qualifier format change discussion.    Ideas for format changes:  No joint events (east/south will not fish together); team format; 4th division(this was discouraged at meeting); a S. Central division to replace East; payment in full prior to first event and change to number of required qualifying tournaments.  Bruce intends to make final decision on format change (if any) at October meeting.  He asks for any and all input to be emailed to him.

2009 TIBF Banquet planning.  Date:  November 21, 2009

1)      Location:  Hilton Garden Inn-Spectrum, Boise, Idaho

2)      Hotel rooms will be discounted at $79/night.

3)      Format will be sit down dinner.

4)      Ticket cost:  Individual $70 which will include State/National TBF Dues, dinner, 1 big item raffle ticket, 20 regular raffle tickets.  Couple $100 which will include state/National TBF Dues, dinner, 1 big item raffle ticket, 20 regular raffle tickets.

5)      Dinner menu:  2 items-Prime Ribe and Citrus Peppered Chicken with green salad, red potatoes, green beans.

6)      Raffle tickets can be purchased separately.  Those will cost $10 and will not need be present to win.  Regular raffle items can be purchased at the banquet and will need to be present to win. Update:  Tickets have been ordered by Steve Day.  Tickets will be 2 colors to differientate from meals only and dues included.

7)      Posters:  Update: Kurt Campbell advises that beverage distributor unable to sponsor poster printing cost as they are out of funds.  Steve Day and Tammy Shuyler will collaborate on designing a poster.  Local print shops will be contacted for final printing.

8)      There will be both a Silent Auction and Live Auction.

9)      Big ticket item suggestions:  Gunsafe; ATV; Pellet Stove; Big Screen TV or other ideas. Kelly Lee has announced he will donate a set of tires through his business.  Other big ticket item choices could be a Big Screen TV or Gun Safe.  Update:  Another suggestion for big ticket item is Traeger BBQ. 

10)  Bruce has drafted a letter which be utilized by membership in soliciting donations and sponsors.  It will be uploaded to TIBF website. Update:  Tammy will make the TIN# available for donation receipts.  Regular raffle item suggestions:  All kinds of retail services and merchandise.  Don’t forget the Ladies as well as non-bass fishing guests.  Update:  TIBF will have $1,000 in Berkley Products as a result of Youth Championship winners.

11)  Banquet sponsor with minimum $500 cash or merchandise donation will receive recognition. Update:  Recognition will be in the form of 1)  Banquet poster 2) TIBF website for 1 year 3) Banner displayed at TIBF Banquet 4) Recognized at the banquet.

12)  Update:  Dinner only comp tickets will be made available to following business:  (2)  Idaho Fish and Game; (2) Western Marine; (2) Howard’s Tackle; (2) Tri-State marine

13)  Schedule:  Late morning start for pre-banquet activities.  Update:  Pre-banquet seminars/activities will be held respectively at Tri-State Marine and Western Marine.  Banquet will start at 5:00pm. with No host Bar; 6:00pm.-6:20pm. Guest Speaker; 6:30pm. State Team Awards; Following awards, dinner will begin.  There will be a powerpoint presentation during dinner.

14)   Each TIBF member club is asked to provide one (member) as a raffle runner during raffle event.

15)  Guest Speaker-Gary Dobyns.  Update:  Another guest speaker added:  Mark Gintert, TBF Youth Director and possibly Robert Cartilage.
